WELCOME MESSAGE from SVO
The Student Veteran Organization (SVO) at Las Positas College would like to welcome all Veterans, Active Duty service members, reservists, dependents and families, as well as all other affiliates. On behalf of the Las Positas College community, Student Veterans, and local Veteran support groups, we would first like to say thank you and acknowledge your service and dedication to our nation.
The SVO is here to provide support and assistance as you transition begin or continue your education. The SVO works in close partnership with the Veterans First Program at Las Positas College to offer a seamless support system that facilitates academic success through mentorship of Veterans and assistance when needed.
Our goals as your SVO are to enrich the community with Veteran sponsored, patriotic events and to promote camaraderie through social gatherings thus creating a positive image of veterans in the surrounding area through community service. The SVO’s goal is to also establish functional and widespread networks of support and friendship for our military-related community as student Veterans navigate college and move out to the workforce. The SVO team is committed to advocacy for veterans, promoting awareness of and support for Veteran issues.
The Student Veterans Organization is a student ran organization, and all are welcome and encouraged to participate in our meetings, volunteering events, social gatherings, and community involvement.

Hi, I’m Stephanie Wise — a proud Gold Star Spouse. My late husband served in the United States Marine Corps, and his service continues to inspire everything I do. The military community has been there for me through my darkest hours and my brightest moments, and I’m deeply committed to giving back to the people who have supported me along the way.
I recently got my Associate in Science Degree for Fire Science Technology and am continuing my education with pursuing Nursing. I come from a diverse background and truly value connection, understanding, and compassion. My goal is to use my experiences to help others — to listen, to encourage, and to make a positive impact wherever I can. This community is my heart, and it’s an honor to continue serving it in any way possible.
