Many students strugle with mathematics and need to seek help outside of the classroom. Here at LPC we offer a number of support services for students enrolled in mathematics classes. These include
- The Open Math Lab
- The Tutorial Center
- Instructor Office Hours
- Learning Skills courses especially for Math students
- Online Resources (online links to math help)
The Open Math Lab, located in the Integrated Learning Center (ILC), Building 600, offers FREE drop-in math help to students enrolled in LPC mathematics classes. Students enrolled in a math course with a TBA lab hour satisfy their lab requirement in the Open Math Lab. The Open Math Lab is staffed by full- and part-time mathematics instructors at LPC.
For classes with a TBA lab hour, all students must log in at least one full hour into the Open Math Lab by the last instructional day PRIOR to census. Students who do not satisfy this requirement will be dropped from the course. Students must log a cumulative total of 17 hours for the entire semester by the last day of classes or face an academic penalty.
The Open Math Lab will
open during regular hours until the last day of the semester. The Open Math Lab will be closed for all school holidays and during Summer Session. There may be special finals week Open Math Lab hours. To find out more information about this, please contact the ILC coordinator or contact your instructor.

All full-time, and many part-time, instructors offer office hours. This is time the instructor has set aside to help students. Take advantage of this opportunity for one-on-one help from your instructor. Instructor office hours are published in the course syllabus and, for full-time instructors, on their office door.
The Learning Skills Department at LPC offers three classes geared especially toward students in pre-transfer level classes: LRNS 119A covers basic number sense and calculation skills; LRNS 119B covers pre-algebra concepts; and LRNS 119C provides support for success in Elementary and Intermediate Algebra. Consult the published class schedule to find out when these courses are offered. Contact Paula Schoenecker for more information about these courses.
