
Mission
Welcome to the Office of Research and Planning at Las Positas College. The mission of this office is to enhance institutional effectiveness in support of student learning, quality teaching, and services. This Office provides data and statistical analyses for college decision making and coordinates the college's strategic planning and assessment of student learning outcomes. Working closely with administrators, staff, and faculty across the college, we conduct research on current policy issues regarding students, faculty, staff, and resources.
The Office of Planning, Research and Student Outcomes, which reports to the college president, is responsible for the following:
- Facilitating the strategic planning process in consultation with the college's Planning Council
- Maintaining a repository of information and publishes reports in both electronic and print formats to describe various aspects of the college
- Facilitating institutional accreditation, assessment of student learning outcomes, and review of programs and services
- Conducting and assisting in developing research studies to support policy decisions and to enhance the effectiveness of the college in reaching its mission
- Administering surveys of students and staff to assess their satisfaction with programs and services offered by the college
- Conducts external scans to keep abreast of emerging knowledge that affects education
