Remedial Courses Policy

Students enrolled in Remedial/Basic Skills and English as a Second Language (ESL) courses may be eligible for financial aid under the following conditions:

Remedial/Basic Skills Courses (100-Level)

• Financial aid is available for a maximum of 30 semester units of Basic Skills courses.
• Courses must be required based on placement testing results.
• The student must be enrolled in an eligible program of study.
• Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) requirements must be maintained.

ESL (English as a Second Language) Courses

No unit limit for ESL courses, as long as:

• They are part of an eligible program of study.
• The student continues to meet SAP requirements.

Important Note:

Students must demonstrate successful academic progress toward their degree or certificate while enrolled in remedial or ESL courses.
