Las Positas College

Determining Cost of Attendance

  • What It Is:
A standard student budget is used to estimate the average costs of attending Las Positas College. This budget helps determine your financial aid, including your eligibility for loans and Federal Pell Grants.

  • How It’s Developed:
The Financial Aid Office creates these budgets using data from surveys conducted by the California Student Aid Commission and the Chancellor's Office for California Community Colleges.

  • Budget Categories:
There are three main categories, each with its own set of costs:

    • Living at Home:
Designed for students who live with their families.
    • Living Away from Home:
Designed for students who live on their own or in housing away from family.
    • Less Than Half-Time Enrollment:
Used specifically to determine eligibility for Federal Pell Grants.
  • Additional Consideration for Non-Resident Students:
If you are a non-resident, your actual tuition cost is added to the budget to help determine your loan eligibility.
