Applying for Financial Aid - Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) Once you have applied, it takes about a week for us to receive your FAFSA results. When we have your FAFSA in our system, we will email you at your secure Zonemail 'student email' account.
The FAFSA is the application to apply for the many grants you may be eligible for just because you applied. The FAFSA is sent to the Department of Education and from there it is sent to the state of California.
Processing Time - Once we receive your FAFSA, you will be notified by our office that we received the FAFSA and we will explain what you must do next. The entire process can take 6-8 weeks, but can take much longer for students who apply late and don't follow through in a timely manner.
Completing your Financial Aid File - Some students are randomly selected by the Department of Education for mandatory verification of income, family size, etc. The information on the student's SAR (Student Aid Report) will indicate if the student has been selected for verification. Verified students are required to provide the financial aid office with documentation of all sources of income for the required tax year and must submit on the Verify My Application platform.

EFC Appeal due to Special Circumstances
Did you know that if you are not eligible for a Pell grant, due to your income at the time being over the limit for your household size/number in college, etc. resulting in your SAI (formerly known as the EFC) being too high for a Pell grant, you can appeal?
If your income is different than the income reported on your 20_- 20_ FAFSA, you may send in a request for an SAI Appeal to the Financial Aid Office after you file your FAFSA and have completed your financial aid file (turned in all required documentation requested by the DOE).
