R2TIV
Return of Title IV Funds (R2T4)
-
What is R2T4?
R2T4 is the process used to calculate if you need to return any federal Title IV financial aid when you withdraw from school during a semester. -
How It Works:
- Assumption:
Federal aid is given with the expectation that you will attend classes for the entire semester. - Withdrawing Early:
- If you withdraw from all your courses before completing 60% of the semester, your aid is recalculated based on the percentage of the semester you completed.
- In this case, you must return any unearned Title IV funds as determined by federal guidelines.
- Important: Even if your college does not refund you for dropped classes, you are still responsible for repaying the unearned funds to the Department of Education or other programs.
- Withdrawing Late:
- If you withdraw after reaching the 60% point of the semester, you are allowed to keep all the Title IV aid awarded for that term.
- Assumption:
-
Responsibility:
Your Home College is responsible for:- Calculating your R2T4 amount.
- Notifying you of the amount (if any) that needs to be returned.
- Handling the return of the funds as required.
Keep this information in mind when making decisions about withdrawing from classes to avoid any unexpected financial responsibilities.
