Attention High School and Current LPC Students! Be A Music Major For A Day will take place on Tuesday, March 24th
Are you interested in majoring in Music at LPC? Our Annual BAMMFAD event will take
place on Tuesday, March 24th beginning at 9:30 AM, and you are welcome to stay for
as long as you wish. Throughout the day, you will have the opportunity to interact
with music majors and faculty, participate in our classes and ensembles, enjoy complimentary
snacks and lunch, and receive some special giveaways. Additionally, free parking will
be provided for those who will be driving. We look forward to welcoming you and are
excited to have you join us on campus.

The department offers Applied one-on-one lessons on a variety of instruments as well as voice and composition.
Students who complete the Applied program are well-equipped to successfully audition
for Bachelor programs in Music. Notable LPC alumni have transferred to such distinguished
music programs as UCLA, the New School, Cal State Long Beach, Cal State Fullerton,
Cal State Northridge (CSUN), Berklee School of Music, and many more.
Students have multiple opportunities to perform, compose, produce, and participate
in a variety of events - both on campus and in the community - throughout the semester.
Performance ensembles include Chamber and Concert Choirs, Vocal Jazz Ensemble, Jazz Ensemble, Jazz Combos,
and Chamber Orchestra.
The recording studio "The Hawks Nest" houses state-of-the-art equipment and software,
and is available for Music students to record and produce music at a professional level.
In 2022, Las Positas College acquired a Steinway Spirio | r (the world's finest high-resolution
player piano capable of recording and editing) and thus earned the coveted All-Steinway School designation, joining the ranks of other elite colleges and universities worldwide.

LPC student Joshua Glatt has been awarded 1st Place prize for his original work "Yearning
for More" at the 2025 MACCC Composition Competition!
We are currently in the design phase of a brand new recording studio and keyboard
lab which will be housed in the 500 building. It is scheduled to open in Spring 2027!
2025 Summer Jazz Camp was a huge success! We welcomed over 40 Highschool students
and worked on improvisation, arranging, and performed a public concert honoring the
life and legacy of saxophone great Benny Golson. Next year 2026, the jazz camp theme
will be Duke Ellington!
We are thrilled to announce that our new Certificate of Achievement in Piano Technology
has been approved by the state as of Fall 2024. More info about this truly unique
