President’s Scholars Program
About the Program
The President’s Scholars Program has been established to attract the “best of the best” from among the diverse local area high school graduates. It is created to support these outstanding scholars throughout their two-year career at Las Positas College by providing several valuable opportunities including: a financial scholarship covering tuition/fees and books, leadership development, service learning, and peer mentoring opportunities.
The President's Scholars are viewed as the pinnacle of the larger Las Positas College community, representing a higher standard for comprehensive educational excellence. A President's Scholar serves as the model of an engaged and committed student, representing the rich diversity of our community, by exceeding the expectations set forth by the college. Achievement in college is not only a road to personal and career success - it also represents an opportunity for students to give back to their communities and to provide an example that encourages others to pursue their most cherished dreams.
LPC President’s Scholars are expected to:
- Attend monthly activities planned, implemented, and coordinated by the College President with appropriate programs designed specifically for the cohort of scholars
- Serve as an Ambassador for the college by attending various events throughout the academic year to represent the college on campus and within the community
President’ Scholars will also have the opportunity to participate in the Las Positas Honors Transfer Program, designed to prepare highly-motivated students for transfer to four-year colleges and universities and to build the intellectual and social skills needed for their success.
