Veterans Counselors can help you with ...
- Develop and maintain comprehensive Student Education Plans (SEPs). Veterans Counselors help students identify the courses required for their degree, certificate, or transfer goal and update plans when students change majors or educational objectives. LPC specifically identifies comprehensive education planning as a Veterans Counseling appointment service. An SEP is required in order to utilize your VA Education Benefits.
- Provide transfer planning. Veterans Counselors help veterans and military connected students understand transfer requirements, select appropriate coursework, and develop an academic pathway toward four-year institutions.
- Help students navigate academic challenges and changes. Veterans and military connected students often need timely counseling when considering adding or dropping courses, changing majors, repeating courses, withdrawing, or adjusting their educational plans. These decisions can have academic consequences and may also affect VA benefits, making access to specialized counseling particularly important.
- Provide individualized support for the military-to-college transition. LPC describes the Veterans First Program's mission as facilitating the transition
from military service to college while providing educational, financial, and other
forms of support responsive to veterans' unique experiences and needs. Veterans counselors
are an important part of that comprehensive support structure.
