March is Womens History Month. Women veterans (either you, a family member - sister, mom, aunt, or a friend who wore a uniform) have made significant contributions to our country, often facing unique challenges and demonstrating incredible resilience. We are excited to recognize women who served in the military, their bravery and sacrifice, along with celebrating their achievements. To date, women currently make up approximately 10% of the overall veteran population. Even smaller numbers at the community college (less than 1%).

On March 28, 2024, we are honored to have Lieutenant Colonel Marisol A. Chalas, Garrison Commander of Parks Reserve Forces Training Area be our keynote speaker for the evening. Sharing her story of overcoming challenges, seeking support from others, and resilience. She is a leader and role model for all women.

We are also honored to have the State of California Department of Veterans Affairs Ms. Adriana Griffin, Women Veterans Affairs Division Manager, to share welcome remarks.Ms Griffin is a US Air Force veteran who served in South Korea, and depoloyed in Qatar and Afghanistan in support of Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom.

This event will include a social hour of wine tasting from our LPC Campus Winery, beautiful baskets to be raffled, buffet dinner, national anthem, presentation of colors, quilt of valor presentation, and scholarship winners. A $5,000 scholarship will be presented by the Valley Veterans Foundation, followed by $500 scholarship awards by the Josefa Higuera Livermore Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Blue Star Moms, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post #7265 in Livermore, California.
