SLO Committee Roles
SLO Coordinator
The Student Learning Outcomes Coordinator works with the Academic Senate and the Office of the Vice President of Academic Services to facilitate the training, development and assessment of student learning outcomes, program (degree or certificate) outcomes and core competencies as they relate to student learning outcomes. This position is 4.5 CAH (11.25 hours per week) position. The following is the job description for the position beginning Fall 2010. This position can be held for 3 years before an additional rotation is required. Please note that there will be an evaluation for this coordinator position by contract.
Responsibilities:
- Chair of the Student Learning Outcomes Committee
- Liaison to Academic Senate as reporting committee to Senate and as the representative of the committee for Senate divisional information
- Works with the Software Liaison (a standing committee role) to represent the interests of the College to the Vendor, as well as to coordinate faculty training opportunities with changes and additions to the software
- Works with the Innovation Center to provide group training opportunities where necessary
- Works with the Data Steward (a standing committee role) to communicate information about data collected on SLO assessments
- Works with faculty on the continued development of course-level student learning outcomes
- Works with faculty on the continued development of major, degree and certificate-level outcomes
- Works with faculty on assessment timelines
- Liaison, as appropriate, with other colleges as SLO representative
- Liaison, as appropriate, with ASLPC
- Assists the Data Steward to link the data derived from the assessment of student learning outcomes to administrative reports, institutional research reports, staff development reports and other institutional connections on campus.
Software Liaison
Responsibilities:
- Manages the relationship between the College and the software vendor
- Communicates the needs of the College to the vendor
- Manages the software at the College
- Mentors committee members in use of the software
Data Steward
Responsibilities:
- Aggregates the data delivered by the software
- Assists the committee to interpret results
