MESSAGE FROM THE SVO-

On behalf of Las Positas College, the Student Veterans Organization and personally take a moment to say thank you for your service to our Nation.  I commend you for taking the first steps on the next chapter of your life and making the decision to further your education.

At Las Positas College I am sure that you will find that we are very fortunate to attend a college that is passionate about supporting all of its students, but especially veterans.  Just a few of the resources that are available to you as a Las Positas student are scholarships, the new veteran resource center, tutoring, and many other opportunities are made available. The administration, faculty, and classified at Las Positas College are absolutely dedicated to our success.  The SVO is under the Veterans First Program and therefore is recognized by the college.  The SVO and the Veterans First Program work together on many projects for our student Veterans.

While active involvement if the S.V.O. is not required I would strongly encourage you to become involved, this will give you an opportunity to continue to refine and learn leadership skills, team work and all the intangible assets that are gained from military service.  it is also an opportunity to continue to make a real difference to other veterans and our communities as a whole.  Many of you are considering going on to a University and involvement in the S.V.O. is an opportunity to be a part of one of the most highly respected and visible groups on campus and even more so in the community at large.

The S.V.O.  holds it meetings on the second Wednesday of the month at the Veterans Resource Center during the semester.  It is an relaxed environment that way to foster an open and free atmosphere where anyone can express any desires or concerns that they may have.  So please I strongly encourage you to come and be involved at whatever level  is comfortable for you.  In closing I want to thank you for your time and again welcome you to Las Postias.
