Summer Pell Grant Information
Your summer Pell grant has been added to your award, which you may view by logging into the financial aid tab on CLASS WEB and the ZONE portal. Directions are posted on our financial aid website at www.laspositascollege.edu/financialaid/Zonemail.php. If you need help learning how to access your Class Web or Zone financial aid information please come into the office and we will help you.
Your award reflects the actual amount paid to you at Las Positas College during the fall and spring terms, and the amount of summer Pell you will be eligible for at the enrollment status you were in at the time of the award. Should your enrollment change your actual refund amount will likely be different from what is currently posted.
For your information, Fulltime enrollment in summer is 6 units, halftime is 3 units. However, please be advised that 6 units in summer is equivalent to the workload of 12 units during a normal term.
Please be very cautious about taking too many summer units. If you enroll in 12 units, that is equivalent to 24 units in a regular semester! Don’t take more than you can handle. Your chances of being successful will drop significantly and you risk making poor progress due to excessive withdrawals or not making good grades. It’s not worth it! Poor progress in summer may affect your eligibility to receive fall financial aid!
SCHEDULED SUMMER REFUND DATES:
The first half of your summer Pell grant refund is scheduled for June 19, 2018, and will be available through your BankMobile refund delivery method selected. Your second half of your summer Pell grant refund is scheduled for 7/17/18. Your second payment may be revised if your units of summer enrollment have been reduced at the time funds for the second payment are authorized.
This summer, the federal government has provided ‘Year Round Pell’, which allows students to receive more than their normal annual award if attending in summer. This usually applies to students who were paid a full-time pell in the fall and spring terms and who enroll in summer. There are some students who were paid less than the full-time pell but who do qualify for some additional pell grant in summer over their regular annual award.
IF YOU ARE A STUDENT WHO RECEIVES ADDITIONAL FUNDS OVER AND ABOVE THE ANNUAL PELL GRANT AWARD AMOUNT, PLEASE BE ADVISED THAT SHOULD YOU DROP UNITS YOU MAY BE REQUIRED TO REPAY ALL OF THE FUNDS RECEIVED IN SUMMER. We have to evaluate on a case by case basis, but be VERY cautious about this. We strongly recommend you check with our office before withdrawing.
SATISFACTORY ACADEMIC PROGRESS REQUIREMENT IS THE SAME FOR SUMMER AS OTHER TERMS
Please be aware that you are subject to the same standards of progress for summer as for regular semesters. You must maintain a minimum 67% term and overall completion rate, and a term and cumulative GPA of 2.0 in order to maintain satisfactory progress.
