Honors Transfer Agreements and Partners

To qualify for these Honors Transfer Agreements you MUST be a member of the LPC Honors Transfer Program. To become a member:
APPLY FOR THE LPC HONORS TRANSFER PROGRAM

Disclaimer: Only transfer students are eligible for ANY of the TRANSFER agreements, which means that concurrent enrollment and Middle College students are not eligible, unless they have taken full semester of college courses AFTER their high school graduation.

Honors Transfer to Yale

Since 2025, Las Positas Honors Transfer Program has become a member of the Transfer agreement with Yale and now offers our Honors Scholar graduates priority transfer admission certification. We had our first ever LPC student transfer to Yale in 2025 after being certified!

Eligibility

In order to be certified for Honors Transfer to Yale students must complete the LPC Honors Transfer Program as an Honors Scholar, which includes the following criteria:

  • Maintain LPC GPA of 3.5 or higher.
  • Do not exceed 1 dropped Honors course record.
  • Complete the community/global engagement service requirement (10 hours per year in the program).
  • Complete a minimum of 5 Honors Courses (worth at least 15 units) with a grade of B or higher by the end of Fall, when you apply.
  • Complete the LPC Request for Honors Certification for ALL Transfer Agreements by it's due date. The request is usually due in October and is only available on the LPC Honors Program Canvas.

NOTE: unlike UCLA TAP, Yale prefers all 5 Honors courses to be completed by the end of Fall, when you apply. However, they do also allow for the certification list to include a category of Honors students who do not plan to graduate as Honors Scholars (with less than 5 Honors courses), though chances for those students will be much lower.

UCLA TAP

UCLA Transfer Alliance Program (TAP) is a priority admission agreement between UCLA and selected certified Honors Programs among community colleges.

Las Positas Honors Transfer Program is UCLA TAP certified and offers our Honors Scholar graduates priority transfer admission consideration to the UCLA College of Letters and Sciences.

Major Benefits of UCLA TAP

  • Priority admission at least TRIPLES your chances to be admitted to UCLA. Compared to the general transfer admission rates to UCLA range between 21-24%, TAP applicants from LPC have been admitted at rates of 78-92% in recent years.
  • Alternate Major Consideration: TAP applicants get to be reviewed for their second choice major if they don't get admitted into their first choice.
  • Eligibility for Honors Scholarship: available only to UCLA TAP applicants.

What Majors Are Eligible for TAP?

The Transfer Alliance Program is a program of the UCLA College of Letters and Science and applies only to majors within L&S. This includes the majors of most LPC transfers, but does not include the Schools of Engineering & Applied Science; Architecture; Music; Nursing; Theatre, Film and Television; Public Affairs, or Education & Information Studies.

Alternate Major Consideration

TAP certification also entitles students to be reviewed for admission in an alternate major. Students must meet the UCLA major preparation requirements in their secondary major. The secondary major must be within the College of Letters and Sciences (L&S) and some impacted majors are excluded from consideration as alternate majors for TAP even if the are in L&S. The alternate major must also be the alternate major indicated on the student's official UC application. The list of majors change every year, so it is critical to check for the most updated information: link to the original UCLA TAP information site.

Eligibility for UCLA TAP

In order to apply through UCLA TAP Honors students must complete the LPC Honors Transfer Program as an Honors Scholar, which includes the following criteria:

  • Maintain LPC GPA of 3.5 or higher.
  • Do not exceed 1 dropped Honors course record.
  • Complete the community/global engagement service requirement (10 hours per year in the program).
  • Complete a minimum of 5 Honors Courses (worth at least 15 units) with a grade of B or higher.

Note:  the 5 Honors courses do NOT have to be completed BEFORE the application process, you have to be ON TRACK to complete 5 by the end of Spring/graduation. You can have some of the courses still in progress in Fall when you apply. You can even have one course left to complete in Spring after you apply, but that might reduce your chances of being accepted. Your chances will be much higher if you complete all 5 by the end of Fall when you apply.

In addition, you want to make sure that:

  • your major and your secondary/alternate major are TAP eligible and within the College of Letters and Science at UCLA
  • you meet all other admissions requirements for the college and BOTH of your majors, as indicated by your LPC counselor, UCLA and ASSIST
  • you have at least a B for all courses in your major.
  • you complete the LPC Request for Honors Certification for ALL Transfer Agreements by it's due date. The request is usually due in November and is only available on the LPC Honors Program Canvas.
  • you submit a separate TAP Applicant Letter to UCLA AFTER submitting your general application to UCLA and the LPC Request for Honors Certification for ALL Transfer Agreements form.

UCI H2H

UCI Honors to Honors is a transfer agreement between UCI and California Community College honors programs.

NOTE: this agreement does not guarantee admission anymore, unless you use TAG to UCI. The major benefits of UCI H2H are:

  • Priority consideration for admission (recognition of Honors work as academic rigor) if you don't TAG UCI, or for majors that are excluded from TAG.
  • Automatic admission into the UCI Honors Program (Campus-wide Honors Collegium).
  • Guaranteed housing designated for Honors Students only.
  • Access to Honors exclusive scholarships and leadership opportunities.
