Pre-Professional Pathway
Important Announcement: All Biology courses have new rubrics and numbers starting in Fall 2015
Las Positas College students who plan to major in the Biological Sciences or go to professional schools (medicine, veterinary medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, and optometry) can complete lower-division course requirements for transfer to Biology programs at 4-year colleges or universities. Biology 30 is recommended, but not required, for Biology 1A and Biology 1B. Other typical lower-division requirements for these professions include chemistry, physics, and math, plus general education courses. Certain programs require other courses such as Biology 7C.
A typical pathway for students who plan go to professional school is shown below. You must consult your desired transfer institution or professional school, the Transfer Center, and/or Counseling for the most up-to-date information.
This pathway only shows required courses in Biology. Other typical requirements for transfer include chemistry, physics, and math. Please consult your transfer institution, the Transfer Center, and/or Counseling for the most up-to-date information.
