CHAPTER 33: POST 9/11 GI-BILL
(paper application)

IMPORTANT

WHEN YOU GET YOUR CERTIFICATE OF ELIGIBILITY FOR POST 9/11 GI-BILL IMMEDIATELY BRING INTO THE VETERANS OFFICE, SO WE CAN CONTACT LPC ADMISSIONS and RECORDS SO THEY WILL NOT DROP YOUR CLASSES WHILE WAITING FOR VA TO PAY YOUR FEES.

WAVE (Web Automated Verification of Enrollment)

9-25-09 from VA

Reminder: If you have switched from chapter 30 or chapter 1606, Montgomery GI Bill; or Chapter 1607, Reservist Educational Assistance Program (REAP), to chapter 33 the Post 9/11 GI Bill, you do not have to verify your attendance each month. WAVE will still reflect your previous benefit, but the only action you can take will be to check pending documents.

There is currently a backlog of claims pending. If you are attending for the Fall term, but receive the message, "We do not show any current periods to be verified." Your enrollment has probably not yet been processed. If your current term dates are not reflected, you will not be able to verify for the month of September. You can look under the "Check Pending Documents" link to confirm your enrollment certification has been received.

The Post-9/11 Veterans Education Assistance Improvements Act of 2010 has been signed into law by the President.

To bring the educational benefits of the Post-9/11 GI Bill closer to more Veterans and Service Members, President
Obama signed legislation Jan. 4 that streamlines the 18-month-old education program administered by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

Please Read the New Changes - Most of the changes will not go into effect until August 2011 - impacting Fall 2011
