A class taught 100% only online for the entire duration of the course. The course materials and assignments will be made available by the faculty for students to access on their own time. Class does not meet at regular set time online. Students do not need to come to campus unless they are required to pick up materials. Synchronous
A class taught 100% online in which the instructor and students are required to meet at a set time online in order to engage, review, and discuss course materials and assignments. All the regular class occurs remotely through ConferZoom in the Canvas platform. Students do not need to come to campus unless they are required to pick up materials. Yes, face masks will be required of all persons at all times while at the college.

Yes, all persons on-campus will be required to wear face masks while on-campus within all college facilities including classrooms and laboratories.

Yes, face masks need to cover the nose and mouths of all persons while at the college.

Is social distancing required?
Yes, all persons are required to social distance at least six feet while on-campus.
What does practice good hygiene mean?
All persons are asked to practice good hygiene while on-campus which means washing hands thoroughly with water and soap, utilizing hand sanitizer, and avoiding touching their eyes, nose, or mouth.
What do I do if I begin to feel sick on-campus?
Persons who begin to feel sick while on-campus are asked to leave campus immediately and seek medical attention. All persons are asked to report to their instructor(s) if they are experiencing COVID-19 related symptoms or test positive for COVID-19.
What happens if I test positive for COVID-19?
Persons who test positive for COVID-19 are asked to contact their instructor(s) so that contact tracing may begin immediately.
Will confidentiality be maintained if I report to test positive for COVID-19?
Yes, confidentiality will be maintained for all persons per the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and other applicable federal and state laws.
How long do I have to self-quarantine?
All persons are asked to self-quarantine for 14-days prior to returning to the college.
Whom do I contact if I see someone not complying with the public health order?
All persons are asked to contact the Office of Campus Safety & Security to report individuals who are not complying with the public health order of wearing a face mask, maintaining social distancing, and practicing good hygiene. The Office of Campus Safety & Security may be reached at (925) 424-1690.
What will happen if I do not comply with the public health order?
Individuals who do not comply with the public health order will be asked to leave the college immediately.

Will I have access to free Wi-Fi internet while on-campus?
All students will have access to free Wi-Fi internet while on-campus including college parking lots C and D.
Where can I borrow a laptop or other college equipment?
All students who require a laptop or other college technology in order to benefit from online instruction are encouraged to fill out a Technology Request Form for possible equipment loans. A library staff member will contact requesters and may seek some additional information about the need. If qualified and resources are available, library staff will schedule a time for the equipment to picked up at the Learning Resource Center (Library).
How long can I borrow the laptop or other college technology from the college?
Students may borrow laptops and other college technology from the college for the entire semester in which the equipment has been loaned. All laptops and other college technology will be due at the conclusion of the semester unless the student plans to continue their enrollment at Las Positas College into the next term. If so, students will need to contact the library to verify whether they can extend their technology loan into the next term.
Is there a cost to borrow a laptop or other college technology from the college?
No. There is no cost to borrow a laptop or other college technology from the college.

ConferZoom is a tool with Canvas that allows instructors and students to communicate with each other in real time. No. We will not charge for parking during the Spring 2021 semester. If passes have already been purchased, refunds will be issued.

How can I obtain a student identification card?
Students may obtain a student identification card by visiting the Admissions & Records Office from Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Student identification cards are free of charge and allow students to access on-campus resources, receive discounts from select businesses off-campus, and ride the Wheels bus without paying the ridership fare.
How can I pay cash for fees owed to the college?

How do I apply for concurrent enrollment as a high school student?
Las Positas College provides the opportunity for high school students in 10th, 11th, and 12th grades to enroll in college-level courses. Concurrent enrollment allows eligible students to enroll in college courses while attending high school and simultaneously earn college credit and get a head start on their college career. When does the spring term 2021 begin?
Spring term 2021 begins on Tuesday, January 19, 2021 and ends on Friday, May 28, 2021.
How do I register for classes?
Students may register for classes through CLASS-Web (online student portal). Students must first apply for admission to the college to register for classes. Spring 2021 course registration begins on November 10, 2020. Course registration appointments are based on units completed at Chabot College and Las Positas College and the completion of orientation, assessment, and student educational plan. Please contact the Admissions & Records Office for additional information.
When can I register for classes?
Course registration appointments are available through CLASS-Web (online student portal). Students may register for classes any day and time following their assigned course registration appointment. Please contact the Admissions & Records Office for additional information.
What if I want to enroll in more than 18 units?
In order to provide the opportunity for all students to enroll in a maximum of 18 units on their course registration assigned dates, we will not increase unit caps until after the student has enrolled in classes up to 18 units. After students enroll in classes, students should complete the Unit Increase Request.
Students are then directed to meet with a counselor online through Counseling Drop-In Sessions to seek approval of increased units. Please note that this is not an automatic approval process. Am I going to have a problem registering for a course that has a prerequisite that I am currently enrolled in at Las Positas College?
No. Students are able to register for courses with a prerequisite for the upcoming semester if enrolled in the prerequisite course in the current semester. The student information system assumes students will pass the course in which they are currently enrolled. Once final grades are issued, the student information system will automatically determine if the prerequisite was met. If the prerequisite is not met, students will automatically be dropped from the course.

No, students are not required to complete the new student orientation, assessment, and student educational plan in order to register.

All student identification numbers are a unique number beginning with the letter “W” and an additional eight (8) numerical digits. The entire student identification number beginning with “W” should be entered into CLASS-Web without any dashes or spaces. Example: W12345678.
What is my CLASS-Web Personal Identification Number (PIN)?
A student’s initial PIN is their date of birth in the format MMDDYY (two-digit month, two-digit day, and two-digit year). Example: September 8, 1927 – 090872.
How do I reset my CLASS-Web Personal Identification Number (PIN)?
Students are able to reset their PIN on their own. Students who have forgotten their PIN need to go to CLASS-Web, enter their student identification number also known as the “W” number, and click on “Forgot PIN.” This will prompt students to answer security questions in order to reset their PIN. Students will have up to five (5) attempts to correctly enter their student identification number and PIN before the account becomes disabled. What if I attended another college/university and I need to demonstrate that I completed an equivalent prerequisite course elsewhere?
Students need to submit their official transcript from the other college/university with the final grades posted for your specific courses to the Admissions & Records Office so that we may determine what classes the student has completed already or if the student completed any course prerequisites.
Students are asked to request official transcripts from the other college/university and have them sent to the Las Positas College Admissions & Records Office. Electronic transcripts will be received by Las Positas College within 72 hours. Hard copy transcripts may take 2 to 3 weeks to be received by Las Positas College.
After the official transcript has been received by Las Positas College, students are asked to submit a Prerequisite Clearance Petition to clear the course prerequisite(s) for the requested Las Positas College course. Instructions on how to complete and submit the petition are noted on the form.
I want to enroll in a course for a course, but I am currently enrolled in an equivalent prerequisite course at another college/university. Can I clear the prerequisite with an "in-progress" course?
Students are asked to submit the Prerequisite Clearance Petition to show that they have completed, at the time of their request, the necessary prerequisite to enroll into the requested course. As indicated on the petition, "in-progress" courses will not meet the prerequisite requirement.
If I am currently on academic or progress probation, how do I remove my block or hold on my course registration?
Due to the COVID-19 shelter-in-place order and subsequent Las Positas College campus closure, the course registration process for students on academic probation or progress probation has changed.
During the COVID-19 shelter-in-place campus closure, all probation holds will automatically be suspended and students will be able to register on their assigned course registration date found on CLASS-Web. Students will NOT need to meet with an academic counselor nor complete the probation clearance form before they can register for courses.
We encourage student to meet with an academic counselor for success guidance. Students who would like to meet with a academic counselor to discuss semester course planning, can visit the General Counseling Department website at for virtual counseling drop-in or appointment options. Students participating in a special program, may also contact their assigned counselor for guidance.
If I am currently dismissed from the college or currently on a readmitted contract, what do I have to do so that I can register for summer term 2020 and/or fall semester 2020?
Due to the COVID-19 shelter-in-place order and subsequent Las Positas College campus closure, the course registration process for “dismissal / readmit” status has changed.
For this registration cycle only in preparation for summer term 2020 and fall semester 2020, all “dismissal / readmit” holds will automatically be suspended and students will be able to register on their assigned course registration date found on CLASS-Web. Students will only be able to register for a maximum of 9 units.
For this course registration period only, students will NOT need to meet with an academic counselor nor complete the readmitted student contract before registering for summer term 2020 and/or fall semester 2020.
