Las Positas Connection Newsletter - August 2026

Global Pathways, one of Las Positas College's newest clubs, was founded last year by two students who had traveled to Costa Rica the previous summer for microbusiness internships through Máximo Nivel. The club gave LPC students interested in learning about the wider world opportunities to explore study abroad, global internships, and other international experiences.

The Athletic Support Network and Athletics Department proudly hosted their first-ever Student-Athlete Orientation, and it was a tremendous success! With more than 80 incoming and returning student-athletes in attendance for Fall Sports, the day was filled with meaningful connections, valuable campus resources, engaging presentations, and campus tours - all designed to help student-athletes feel welcomed, connected, and supported from the very start. This event was a true reflection of what can be accomplished when departments across campus come together with a shared commitment to student success.

LPC launched its first faculty-led study abroad program for academic credit this June. Students traveled to Sevilla, Spain, where Professors Katie Eagan and Elizabeth Wing Brooks taught English 45 (Studies in Fiction) and Humanities 11 (Culture and the Arts I: Ancient World to Renaissance). Thanks to the American Institute for Foreign Study (AIFS), students stayed with Spanish families and experienced daily life and culture firsthand.

Las Positas College has completed the installation of new exterior signage, including campus entrance, building identification, and directional wayfinding signs.
