Exploring the World Through Global Pathways
Global Pathways, one of Las Positas College's newest clubs, was founded last year by two students who had traveled to Costa Rica the previous summer for microbusiness internships through Máximo Nivel. The club gave LPC students interested in learning about the wider world opportunities to explore study abroad, global internships, and other international experiences.
Club officers promoted LPC's Spain study abroad program, shared their own experiences interning in Central America, and introduced members to additional study abroad and global internship opportunities available both at LPC and after transfer. They also invited a guest speaker, a former LPC Global Studies major, who studied abroad in Germany through UCSB, completed a working holiday in Australia, and now lives in Germany.
Club meetings included activities designed to expand students' geographical and cultural knowledge. Two students attended the Global Learning Conference at UC Davis and returned with resources on how to highlight intercultural and global experiences on a résumé. Members also enjoyed a field trip to the San Francisco International Film Festival with the LPC Film Club.
