Am I Eligible for DSPS?

You may be eligible for DSPS if you have a physical or mental health condition that substantially limits one or more major life activities such as learning, concentrating, communicating, reading, writing, seeing, hearing, walking, or caring for yourself.

Eligibility is based on how a condition affects your academic functioning — not on whether you received services in high school or have a specific label.

If you are unsure whether your condition qualifies, we encourage you to contact us.

You May Be Eligible If You Have:

DSPS serves students with a wide range of disabilities and health conditions, including but not limited to:

  • Learning disabilities
  • ADHD
  • Autism spectrum conditions
  • Mental health conditions (such as anxiety, depression, PTSD, bipolar disorder)
  • Chronic health conditions (such as diabetes, epilepsy, autoimmune conditions, migraines, long COVID)
  • Mobility impairments
  • Blindness or low vision
  • Deafness or hard of hearing
  • Traumatic brain injury
  • Temporary* medical conditions that significantly impact learning or mobility

* Temporary conditions may include pregnancy-related medical conditions when they substantially limit a major life activity.

This list is not exhaustive.

You Might Qualify Even If:

  • You never had an IEP or 504 Plan
  • You were diagnosed recently
  • Your disability is not visible
  • You are a veteran
  • You are managing your condition without medication
  • You are unsure whether your condition "counts"

Many students do not realize they qualify for services. We are here to help you explore your options.
