New Student Support Center
The New Student Support Center assists prospective and new college students with the following services:
- Admission Application
- Class-web and Zone Mail
- Online Orientation
- Assessment/ Placement
- Schedule New Student Group Planning
- Register For Classes
- Referrals to programs, services, and learning communities
Support Availability.
Support is available via walk-in, phone, and email. You can find us in the Student Services & Administration Building, Room 1642. Please note that priority is given to in-person services. We generally respond to inquiries by the end of the next business day.
Let's get started.
We've made the process of applying for admission and registering for classes easy for first-time college students. Simply follow the Steps to Success outlined below. Your status will be updated the day after you complete each step.
Upon submission of your admission application, you will receive an email within 48 hours. This email will contain your Student ID Number (W#) and the Steps to Success you need to follow.

Once you receive your confirmation email containing your Student ID (W#) and Zonemail email address (please allow up to 48 hours from the time of application submission), please log in to CLASS-Web and Zonemail.
- CLASS-Web: Your personal student portal is where most online services are performed, including completing your enrollment process, registering for classes, paying fees, viewing grades and transcripts, and verifying financial aid information.
- Zonemail Email: Zonemail is your Las Positas College student email address. All college communications
will be sent to your Zonemail address.

1. Access CLASS-Web
2.Click on "Sign On to CLASS-Web."
- User ID: W Number or social security number
- Pin: mmddyy (default PIN is set to your 6-digit birthdate).
3. Click the "Steps to Success" tab to access your to-do steps
1. Access the Zonemail Login Page
- Email: Enter the Zonemail username found in your welcome email or via CLASS-Web.
- Password: mmddyyyy (default is set to your 8-digit birthdate).

Should I apply using the FAFSA OR the CA Dream Act Application?
1. You are eligible to complete the FAFSA if you are a:
- U.S Citizen
- Permanent Resident
- Eligible non-citizen
- T Visa holder

Apply using the CA Dream Act Application
1. You are eligible to complete the CADAA if you are:
- Undocumented
- Have a valid or expired DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals)
- U Visa holder
- Have Temporary Protected Status (TPS)
- Meet the non-resident exemption requirements under AB 540, SB 2000, SB 68

The online orientation will introduce you to the college's Steps to Success, academic and student support services, campus life and leadership opportunities, student conduct and rights, as well as campus safety and security. Completing the Online Orientation is mandatory to receive Priority Registration at Las Positas College.

High school information is used to determine your English and math placement. The assessments are quick and conducted online via CLASS-Web. Completing the Assessment/Placement is mandatory to qualify for Priority Registration at Las Positas College.

Attend a two-hour first semester planning session with a counselor to learn how to identify your goals, plan your college coursework, and prepare for your first day of class!
Completing the First Semester Planning Session is mandatory to receive Priority Registration at Las Positas College.

Note: Appointments fill up quickly. If there are no appointments available, please visit the Las Positas College Counseling Department webpage, to schedule a 15-minute drop-in session with a counselor.
All students are assigned a priority registration date, which specifies the day and time you can begin registering for classes. Those who have completed the aforementioned steps will be eligible to register earlier than other new students. You may register for courses anytime after your priority registration date. Upon registration, please ensure payment of fees by the established deadlines to avoid being dropped from your classes.
