Online Instruction
Before teaching a fully or partially online class, instructors must show evidence that they are qualified to teach online and understand the Minimum Standards for Distance Education Instruction outlined in our faculty contract.
Explore the options for meeting these requirements and additional resources to support you below:
Required Online Training
You have options for demonstrating your proficiency in online instruction:
- Complete LPC's Online Course Development Program.
- If you have completed a similar training at another college, you can apply for equivalency.
- Complete a course review with a member of the DE Committee
No matter which option you choose, you are welcome to use LPC's optional templates for online courses:
Please note that the first semester you teach online, you will also complete an online course evaluation.
Required HyFlex Training
Instructors choosing to teach a HyFlex course must also complete a required HyFlex training and are welcome to utilize LPC's optional HyFlex templates:
Optional POCR Training
Experienced online instructors may wish to complete the Peer Online Course Review training to align their online course to the high-quality standards outlined in the CVC Online Course Design Rubric.
Other Optional Training
Even on-campus instructors typically find themselves using many of the same technologies that online instructors use, like Canvas - our Learning Management System. That's why all instructors will find optional but highly recommended courses on your Canvas Dashboards, including our Intro to Canvas and Web Accessibility courses.
Beyond our required and optional complete training courses, you also have the opportunity to participate in workshops offered throughout the year to refresh your skills and explore the latest in course design and instructional technology.
