Certificate of Achievement: Jazz Studies

The Certificate of Achievement in Jazz Studies provides creative and innovative training in all styles of jazz for students who wish to become working professionals. Concentrations of study include performance, theory, ear training, history, improvisation, music industry studies, and keyboard skills. Students are provided many opportunities to hone their skills in ensemble settings and individual practice.

Typical career options include but are not limited to: Jazz Performance, Jazz Accompaniment, Jazz Arranging Jazz Education, Jazz History, Jazz Journalism, Ensemble Direction, and Music Entrepreneurship.

Program Outcomes

Upon completion of the Certificate of Achievement in Jazz Studies, students are able to perform, arrange, and compose jazz literature.

Upon completion of the Certificate of Achievement in Jazz Studies, students are able to analyze and interpret harmonic, melodic, and formal elements of solos by jazz improvisation masters.

Upon completion of the Certificate of Achievement in Jazz Studies, students are able to rehearse and practice effectively.
