I enrolled in the Introduction to Horticulture class three years ago because I wanted to know more about plants after landscaping my front yard. Today I am working on my certificate in Horticulture and interning with a Landscape Architect. The breadth of knowledge of the instructors in the program is inspiring and their enthusiasm for all things plant is infectious. The Horticulture program at Las Positas College has truly opened a whole new world of possibilities for me!

I decided to go back to school in my late forties. I signed up for Las Positas College Horticulture program as I was very interested in gardening. As I continued through the program I realized that I was also interested in garden design. The classes covered a wide range of horticultural disciplines from pest control and arboriculture to turf management. All of the classes include a hands on lab. The instructors not only bring the knowledge of extensive horticultural backgrounds but practical experience as well. The horticulture program will serve any student looking to increase the knowledge of the growing environment around us whether for career or your home garden. The classes and instructors promote comradery among people sharing a passion. The field trips bring new experiences and learning opportunities. A part of me was sad to graduate and leave this wonderful program. I have continued to be as involved as I can through the program’s garden club.
