LPC Collaborative for Equity and Professional Growth (LPC CEPG)

What We Believe

Belonging in education for students and faculty of all backgrounds is crucial to effective teaching and learning. And since we often come from different backgrounds from our students, and at times our colleagues, creating and fostering a true sense of belonging takes self-awareness, development, practice, dedication, and grace. Exercising belonging in education is to create classroom and campus environments that are anti-ableist, anti-racist, anti-homophobic, anti-transphobic, anti-sexist, anti-agist, anti-classist. Such belonging is imperative for learning and being a caring campus.

Las Positas College can achieve equity by changing the impacts of structural racism, ableism, homophobia, and systematic poverty on student success and access to higher education, and continuous evaluation and improvement of all services. We believe in a high-quality education focused on learning and an inclusive, culturally relevant environment that meets the diverse needs of all our students.

What We Do
Educational institutions have long been the growth places of societal change, places of research, learning, development, and progress. In that spirit, the LPC_CEPG operates as a center for teaching and learning. This center has been called on to create learning experiences for faculty, classified professionals, and administrators with an emphasis on amplifying intentional, anti-biased, anti-ableist transformative change in classrooms and across the institution. Collaborating on such efforts across the institution through targeted ongoing professional development, growth and learning will make it possible for LPC to live up to its equity mission statement to equitably serving our entire student body.
