Bay area native Grant Leimbach received his MA and BA from California State East Bay in Saxophone Performance and AA in Music from Diablo Valley College. He has studied saxophone and flute with Dann Zinn and Rory Snyder, Flute with Michelle Caimotto and clarinet with Guido Fazio. Since graduate school, Grant has developed a passion for new music for woodwind instruments and has become an advocate for contemporary compositions featuring the saxophone. In addition to contemporary music, he has been working towards expanding the standard repertoire with saxophone transcriptions of baroque sonatas. As a performer of nine woodwinds instruments, Grant has played over one hundred musical theater productions, most notably with Tri Valley Repertory Theater company in Livermore. Notable guest artist performances include Toshiko Akiyoshi, Jim Mcneely, Don Menza, Clark Terry, Joe Henderson, Steve Turre, Dann Zinn, Dave Eshelman and Johannes Wallman. Grant has been a private woodwind teacher in the tri-valley area for over twenty years. He has been a guest lecturer and clinician at Las Positas College, CSU East Bay, UC Santa Cruz, and Clovis Community College.
