LPC: Computer/Network & Audio/Visual

  • The Library/LRC computer labs have recently been upgraded with new computers.
  • Christine is obtaining quotes for technology updates in multiple areas, including:
    • CDC Conference Room and Classroom (Room 713)
    • Black Box Theater control system and Main Stage assistive listening system
    • Aquatic Center audio system
    • PE studios (approximately three spaces)
    • Library Room 2003
    • Library group study rooms with outdated technology

LPC: Instructional Technology

  • The DE Committee supported and hosted a statewide conference, “Reclaiming Joy: Human First Teaching in the AI Era,” instead of holding a regular meeting. Recordings will be shared soon.
  • The web accessibility compliance deadline (WCAG 2.1 AA) has been extended, giving colleges more time, though requirements remain unchanged. Workshops on accessibility (e.g., captioning, alt text, ComplyBot) are being planned.
  • A new tool, K16, will be implemented to archive old Canvas courses, improving accessibility compliance, system performance, and data security.
  • Faculty and staff across campus are actively improving accessibility efforts, and momentum will continue.
  • Instructional technology for the upcoming year will mostly remain the same (Canvas, Zoom, Studio, etc.), with continued support for AI tools.
  • A major change: transitioning from Proctorio to Respondus for online exam proctoring, with limited overlap during summer to ease the transition.
  • Cost-saving adjustments include:
  • Reducing NetTutor usage purchases
  • Discontinuing the Allied tool (replaced by ComplyBot)
  • There may have been minor Canvas/LTI disruptions, and users are asked to report any issues.

LPC: Website/Home Page Analytics

  • Tim Druley was not in attendance and will report at the next meeting on October 5.

District: ITS

  • The District is preparing to roll out a new faculty roster system (SSB9), replacing SSB8, with training sessions and resources (videos, guides) available and more training planned.
  • There have been intermittent system outages due to Oracle Cloud (OCI) firmware updates, causing short disruptions beyond local control.
  • ITS is working to modernize MIS reporting by replacing old custom scripts with standardized processes, improving accuracy and maintainability.
  • MyPortal Cards Group is reviewing and improving portal functionality, including identifying useful enhancements and removing unnecessary cards to keep the system streamlined.
  • Some features from the old system may not carry over (e.g., clipboard email function), though alternatives like Excel exports for rosters will be available.

6. New Business

Discuss Meeting Start Time for New Block Schedule

7. New Business

Shared Governance Worksheet – Tasks Committee completed for 2025-2026

  • Reviewed and finalized the shared governance worksheet, summarizing key work from the semester (e.g., SB9 rollout, IT updates, Canvas tools, and committee discussions).
  • A major discussion focused on quorum requirements:
    • Concern that current quorum is too high and difficult to meet
    • Consideration of reducing positions (e.g., student reps, classified professionals) to lower quorum
    • Question raised whether vacant positions should count toward quorum
  • Action items:
    • Andrea will confirm quorum rules (whether vacancies count)
    • Committee provisionally approved reducing positions if needed, pending that clarification
    • Final decision will be shared via follow-up email
