Study and Cultural Exchange

All-African Diaspora Education Summit

Since 2022, the All-African Diaspora Education Summit has brought over 600 educators and administrators, primarily connected to California community colleges and in partnership with the African American Male Education Network and Development (A2MEND) organization, to Ghana to learn about African-centered education, Pan-Africanism, and Black student success. Through professional and personal development, participants gained new tools and opportunities to enhance the success of Black California community college students.

Teaching

Teaching English as a Foreign Language

Students who might like to teach English in other countries can get a TEFL certification.

Students can plan ahead to apply for a U. S. Department of State Fulbright Award after they graduate from college. The ETA (English Teaching Award) allows students to support a classroom in a foreign country.

Research

Attending graduate school in a foreign country is an exciting possibility (and in some cases much less expensive than it would be in the U.S.), but if that seems beyond a student's comfort level, they might plan to pursue a research project after graduation through the Fulbright Study/Research Award! Students in the creative and performing arts can apply as well! The Fulbright-National Geographic Award Program, another post-Bachelor's opportunity, brings together five grantees who study a pressing global issue and hone their storytelling skills to bring it to life.
