Alameda County Bar Association Lawyer Referral Service

The Alameda County Lawyer Referral Service (LRS) has been the trusted source for lawyer referrals in Alameda County for 50 years. The State Bar of California regulates and certifies our program. Our LRS can match you with a pre-screened Alameda County lawyer who is qualified to help you with your legal needs. The lawyers in our network have been carefully screened to ensure that they have ample experience in the area of law in which you need assistance.

Asian Health Services

Asian Health Services, founded in 1974, provides health, social, and advocacy services for all regardless of income, insurance status, immigration status, language, or culture. Our approach to wellbeing focuses on “whole patient health,” which is why we provide more than primary care services, including mental health, case management, nutrition, and dental care to more than 28,000 patients in English and over 12 Asian languages: Cantonese, Vietnamese, Mandarin, Khmer, Korean, Tagalog, Mien, Lao, Mongolian, Karen, Karenni, and Burmese.

Asian Law Caucus

Founded in 1972, Asian Americans Advancing Justice – Asian Law Caucus is the nation’s first legal and civil rights organization serving the low-income Asian Pacific American communities. Advancing Justice – ALC focuses on housing rights, immigration and immigrants’ rights, labor and employment issues, student advocacy (ASPIRE), civil rights and hate violence, national security, and criminal justice reform. As a founding affiliate of Asian Americans Advancing Justice, the organization also helps to set national policies in affirmative action, voting rights, Census and language rights.

Axis Community Health

Axis Community Health is a community health center that provides medical care, mental health counseling and addiction counseling services for everyone in the community.

California Community College Chancellor’s Office

The Chancellor’s office oversees the community college system, and Chancellor Oakley has developed a list of resources for undocumented community college students.

Catholic Charities of the East Bay

Founded in 1935, we provide social services and advocacy to the poor and underserved in Alameda and Contra Costa Counties. We believe that healthy families create healthy communities. Our programs reflect Christ’s teachings and are rooted in love, compassion, and dignity for all. We work with youth, children, and families to promote resilience, strengthen families, and pursue safety and justice.

Center for Empowering Refugees and Immigrants

CERI is a grassroots, non-profit organization founded in 2005 by a small group of bilingual/bicultural mental health professionals. It is dedicated to providing culturally competent mental health and other social services to refugee and immigrant families with multiple layers of complex needs, exposure to violence and trauma both in their current environment and in their native countries, and weakening intergenerational relationships. The agency’s focus is on refugees and immigrants from Afghanistan, Bosnia, Cambodia and Iran.

Centro Legal de la Raza

Founded in 1969, Centro Legal de la Raza is a comprehensive legal services agency protecting and advancing the rights of immigrant, low-income, and Latino communities through bilingual legal representation, education, and advocacy. By combining quality legal services with know-your-rights education and youth development, Centro Legal promotes access to justice for thousands of individuals and families each year throughout Northern and Central California.

Attention Current Las Positas College Students with a Promise Grant Scholarship (AB 19). AB 19 works differently at Chabot College. Chabot College offers the Chabot Promise Program for first-time college students, therefore, if you decide to become a full-time Chabot College student it is not guaranteed that you will receive the AB 19 grant at Chabot College. Please make sure you understand the requirements if you decide to change your home campus.

Community Health for Asian Americans

Community Health for Asian Americans (CHAA) is a non-profit organization committed to improving the quality of life for marginalized communities with special focus on Asian and Pacific Islander (API) communities in the Bay Area.

Educators for Fair Consideration

Educators for Fair Consideration (E4FC) transforms lives and fuels broader changes. With resources and support, undocumented young people are able to get an education, pursue careers, and build a brighter future for themselves and our country. We empower undocumented young people to achieve educational and career goals through personal, institutional and policy transformation.

Family Paths

Family Paths, Inc. is a non-profit organization of mental health professionals and dedicated volunteers that provide a number of mental health and supportive services to low income, multi-stressed individuals and families. We are a multicultural agency committed to serving families of Alameda County regardless of age, ethnicity/race, financial status, language, sexual orientation, immigration status, class, religion, gender, mental or physical ability.

Immigration Law Help.org

ImmigrationLawHelp.org is a searchable online directory of over 1,000 free or low-cost nonprofit immigration legal services providers in all 50 states. Only nonprofits that are BIA recognized or have attorneys on staff are included in the directory. Users can search ImmigrationLawHelp.org by state, zip code, or detention facility. Users can also refine their search by types and areas of legal assistance provided, populations served, languages spoken, other areas of legal assistance, and non-legal services provided. ImmigrationLawHelp.org was developed by the Immigration Advocates Network and Pro Bono Net with support from the Four Freedoms Fund.

Immigrant Legal Resource Center

The mission of the Immigrant Legal Resource Center (ILRC) is to work with and educate immigrants, community organizations, and the legal sector to continue to build a democratic society that values diversity and the rights of all people.

Legal Access Alameda

Legal Access provides free direct legal assistance to Alameda County’s low-income population by mobilizing volunteer attorneys to provide pro bono service. Take a look at our programs to find out how Legal Access is impacting access to justice in Alameda County. Notice:  Due to COVID-19 precautions, Legal Access Alameda will not be conducting any in-person clinics until further notice.  However we are providing limited virtual pro bono services. LULAC

LULAC is the largest and oldest Hispanic organization in the United States. LULAC advances the economic condition, educational attainment, political influence, housing, health and civil rights of Hispanic Americans through community-based programs operating at more than 1,000 LULAC councils nationwide. The organization involves and serves all Hispanic nationality groups.

MALDEF

Founded in 1968, MALDEF is the nation’s leading Latino legal civil rights organization. Often described as the “law firm of the Latino community”, MALDEF promotes social change through advocacy, communications, community education, and litigation in the areas of education, employment, immigrant rights, and political access.

My Undocumented Life Blog

Our mission at My Undocumented Life is to provide up-to-date information and resources to undocumented immigrants. We post scholarship opportunities that are open to undocumented students, strategies for navigating the educational system, information on how to apply for DACA/Advanced Parole, news on DAPA, and much more. Most importantly, we want to provide a sense of community to our diverse group of readers.

National Immigration Law Center

Established in 1979, the National Immigration Law Center (NILC) is one of the leading organizations in the U.S. exclusively dedicated to defending and advancing the rights of immigrants with low income. At NILC, we believe that all people who live in the U.S. should have the opportunity to achieve their full potential. Over the years, we’ve been at the forefront of many of the country’s greatest challenges when it comes to immigration issues, and we play a major leadership role in addressing the real-life impact of policies that affect the ability of low-income immigrants to prosper and thrive.

Services Immigrant Rights & Education Network

SIREN’s mission is to empower low-income immigrants and refugees through community education and organizing, leadership development, policy advocacy and legal services.  We believe that all people regardless of legal status or nationality are entitled to essential services, human dignity, basic rights and protections, and access to full participation in society.

SF-CAIRS

Established in 2007, SF-CAIRS is a coalition of organizations serving the San Francisco Bay Area asylee, immigrant and refugee community and its service providers. SF-CAIRS is a multidisciplinary body of over 20 agencies and 60 members with representation from city government, community based organizations, employment, immigration and health care providers, educational and vocational training organizations and other support services.

United We Dream

When you’re undocumented, you face a lot of discrimination, and that creates a lot of fear. At United We Dream, we transform that fear into finding your voice. We empower people to develop their leadership, their organizing skills, and to develop our own campaigns to fight for justice and dignity for immigrants and all people. This is achieved through immigrant youth-led campaigns at the local, state, and federal level.

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services

U.S. CIS is the federal agency that oversees and processes forms for the legal immigration status of people in the United States. This includes immigrant visa petitions, naturalization petitions, asylum applications, and refugee applications. This website has the most up-to-date information related to DACA and other federal immigration laws and policies.
