Eternal Ecstasy
Jay Sarkis-Kelly
Jay Sarkis-Kelly is a Bay Area painter who works in a variety of media including watercolor, acrylic, and oil paints. He uses unique techniques for mixing color and texture in order to create depth and movement in his pieces. Sarkis-Kelly holds an MS from Royal College of Arts in London, England and has over thirty years of experience in Industrial Product Design.
His work expresses an outburst of emotion and intends to provide a form of unspoken language, a feeling that can be universally understood. His early work pays respect to the works of master painters such as Gerhard Richter and Arshile Gorky.
A lifelong learner, Sarkis-Kelly returned to his art education at Las Positas College when his own children began their college journey here. During his time as a student, he showcased his talent at student exhibitions and art shows, and further explored diverse forms of expression through art.
Eternal Ecstasy was acquired in 2022 by the Art on Campus Task Force as part of an ongoing effort to grow the LPC art collection, with a focus on local Bay area artists and LPC student artists.
