Administration of Justice Las Positas College

The Administration of Justice (AJ) program at Las Positas College focuses on the study of criminal justice in the United States, including emphasis on California law, procedures, and evidence. Students gain insight into the evolution of law, the history of law enforcement, investigative techniques, report writing, evidence, criminal law and procedure.

The AJ program gives students two degree options; each helps prepare students for a career in fields related to law enforcement, corrections, courts, social service, and the private sector:

  • An Associate of Arts (AA) degree that helps prepare students for direct entry into the criminal justice career field.
  • An Associate in Science for Transfer (AS-T) degree that is ideally suited for students who want to transfer to a four-year institution.*

Both degree programs are designed to be completed in two years. Classes are offered in a traditional face-to-face format and online. Some classes may be presented in a hybrid format, which includes both face-to-face class meetings and online course work.

* Students who are awarded an AS-T degree are guaranteed admission with junior standing somewhere in the CSU system and given priority admission consideration to their local CSU campus or to a program that is deemed similar to their community college major.
