Pronto for Students
Pronto is an all-in-one communications platform that allows students and instructors to interact with one another directly within a Canvas course or within its mobile app (called Pronto Team Communication), which can be downloaded from the Apple App Store or Google Play. You can also download its desktop app, which can be accessed from the Pronto web site. Pronto comes in handy for many reasons, especially if Canvas happens to be unavailable.
Pronto includes:
- a chat feature
- the ability to share files
- the ability to post animated GIFs, images, and emojis.
- a video conference tool that lets instructors and students create, and meet with each other, in their own video meetings. These meetings can be recorded to be watched later.
- a task manager
- live message translation into another language
Accessing Pronto
- Download the Pronto app from the Apple App Store or Google Play.
- Sign into Pronto
Note that you need to sign into Pronto using the email address you use in Canvas. If you don't know what that is, log into Canvas, go to Account - Settings, then look under Email Address on the right. Your email address will have a star next to it.
Within Canvas, Pronto is located at the bottom of the global navigation menu on the left, below the Help icon. It is the instructor's choice whether to keep Pronto available to your class or not. Read Accessing Pronto within Canvas for more information.
