Use of Third-Party Tools

LPC provides instructors with a wide variety of vetted instructional technologies that support online teaching and learning. For the current list of campus-provided tools, review Canvas for Faculty, which also includes Canvas-integrated tools like Hypothesis, Pronto, and Turnitin.

Before using other technology to supplement instruction that has not been vetted by the college, instructors should verify that the technology meets strict accessibility, privacy, and security standards for higher education. For example, if selecting a digital publisher package that integrates into Canvas, instructors should review the process for vetting Online Publisher Content.

The vetting process involves review of the company's VPAT, to check for alignment with web accessibility standards, and HECVAT, to check for alignment with privacy, data, and security standards. The review process can take time, so instructors looking to implement new software should request review well in advance of upcoming deadlines to determine texts and materials to be listed in the class schedule.
