Step 2: Apply for Financial Aid Assistance

If you meet the AB 540 Requirements, apply for financial aid by submitting the California Dream Act Application (CADAA).

Deadlines

2021-2022 CADAA is available, please submit it today to be considered for grants that you do not have to pay back.

Follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Dream Act application on the California Student Aid Commission website.
  2. Start a new application. Add Las Positas College school code: 030357
  3. Review your “CAR” report
  4. Log into your student account on Class-Web and access the financial aid section. Select "My Eligibility" then review your “Student Requirements” (if you qualify for a Cal Grant).
  5. Create an account on Web Grants 4 Students – the website where you will check if you received a Cal Grant and manage your Cal Grant.

As a Dreamer, you may be eligible for the following types of financial aid.

Step 3: Complete an Online Orientation

To complete the online orientation, please view the online orientation available on CLASS-Web (online student portal). The online orientation will help introduce you to the college’s steps to success, academic and student support services, campus life and leadership, student conduct and rights, and campus safety and security.

INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO SIGN-IN TO THE ONLINE ORIENTATION:

  1. Sign on to CLASS-Web
  2. Click on the “Student Services” tab
  3. Scroll down to the end and click on “Online Orientation”
  4. Click on “LPC Orientation Services”
  5. Select English or Spanish

Step 4: Take Assessment

The assessment tool is available online through CLASS-Web (online student portal). Students must first apply for admission to the college to access the assessment tool. At this time, Guided Self-Placement is available for English and Mathematics.

INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO SIGN-IN TO THE GUIDED SELF-PLACEMENT:

  1. Sign on to CLASS-Web
  2. Click on the “Student Services” tab
  3. Select Las Positas College Guided Self-Placement for English and/or Mathematics
  4. Please answer all of the questions
  5. Once you complete the Guided Self-Placement, select “Schedule my Student Education Plan to meet with a counselor” to complete STEP 5

Step 5: Complete Your Student Education Plan

The student education plan provides students with a roadmap to complete their educational goal of earning a certificate, associate degree, and/or transfer to a four-year college or university. Students can schedule an appointment to complete a Student Education Plan with an academic counselor after completing their assessment.  (see STEP 4 instructions)

Step 6: Register for Classes. Pay fees!

Upon completion of the steps to success, you will be assigned a course registration date for the subsequent term. You may register for courses any day and time following your course registration date. Priority registration is assigned to students who complete orientation, assessment, and student education plan. Please pay your fees owed to the college to avoid being dropped from your courses prior to the start of the subsequent term by the established deadline.

  • Register for classes. Pay your fees

Attention: by the time you have to pay for classes, you may still see that you owe a lot of money on CLASS-Web. If you qualify for AB 540 status do not drop your classes because the amount of tuition is high; this process takes time. If you are eligible for AB 540 status and your documents are procesed, you will see your tuition rate lower.
