Library Studies
Library Studies are for students doing research projects, transferring to a four-year college, or wanting to locate sources of information in a more efficient manner. These classes teach the research process, including location, evaluation, and citation of sources from the library catalog, the library databases, and the web. Students transferring to a four-year college will be expected to have these research skills.
In additon, the Library Studies department at Las Positas College offers short-term, tuition-free, non-credit courses and programs designed to equip students with fundamental research skills, enabling their success in college classes and career settings. In particular, these classes teach students how to find, evaluate, and use information from print, the Internet, and other online resources. Students will gain basic research skills to prepare them for work in entry-level research fields and college-level courses in research-intensive fields.
