Studio Arts Associate in Arts for Transfer (AA-T)
About the Program
This Associate in Arts in Studio Arts for Transfer degree is designed to prepare students for transfer to a CSU institution to continue their studies toward earning a B.A. in Art or Studio Arts. The students who earn a Studio Arts AA-T degree will have an understanding of art and design concepts, the ability to communicate using visual media, and will possess a portfolio of work reflecting their knowledge, techniques, and creativity gained during the course of study.
Career Opportunities
Students will be able to pursue a careers in arts education, arts management, studio arts, multimedia design, graphic design, photography, animation/ illustration, or a variety of other areas.
Program Outcomes
- Upon completion of the AA-T in Studio Arts, students are able to apply the basic principles of observational drawing and how to develop illusionary spatial constructions.
- Upon completion of the AA-T in Studio Arts, students are able to demonstrate critical thinking as it applies to critique, evaluation and/or production of works of art.
- Upon completion of the AA-T in Studio Arts, students are able to demonstrate knowledge of the science of color perception and how it can be utilized in the creation of works of art.
- Upon completion of the AA-T in Studio Arts, students are able to the principles and concepts of design.
Learning and Career Pathway Maps
Completion Requirements:
- Completion of 60 semester units or 90 quarter units that are eligible for transfer
to the California State University, including both of the following:
- The Intersegmental General Education Transfer Curriculum (IGETC) or CA State University General Education – Breadth Requirements.
- A minimum of 18 semester units or 27 quarter units in a major or area of emphasis, as determined by the community college district.
- Obtainment of a minimum grade point average of 2.0.
Associate Degrees for Transfer (ADT’s) also require that students must earn a "C " (or "P'') or better in all courses required for the major or area of emphasis.
