Library [Learning Resources Center, LRC] (Building 2000)

The Library at Las Positas College is located inside the Learning Resources Center (Building 2000). The Library’s mission is to provide the information services and resources required to meet the needs of the College’s educational programs. It facilitates and improves learning by supporting and expanding the instructional capabilities of the College and by providing students with the opportunity to develop information competency skills for lifelong learning. The Library offers reference and instructional services to meet the needs of students, faculty, and staff. It encompasses all types of print, non-print, and online resources including a wide variety of books, audiovisual materials, magazines and newspapers, and full-text periodical databases. The Library also provides access to course textbooks placed on reserve by faculty. It maintains an extensive website that provides access to the Chabot-Las Positas College Libraries online catalog, online databases, and research and instructional guides. Library facilities include computer labs, study carrels, and group study rooms. Registered students, faculty, and staff with current College ID cards may check out books / materials from both Las Positas College and Chabot College Libraries.

Tutoring Center (Building 2100)

The Tutoring Center, located upstairs in the Multidisciplinary Building (Building 2100, Room 2401), is dedicated to providing the academic support and assistance that students need to be successful in their coursework and improve their study skills. Scheduled and drop-in tutoring in specific content areas, study skills assistance, online tutoring, reading and writing help, and a quiet place to study are provided free of charge. Student tutors are recommended by faculty for their positions and receive course credit for tutor training. Students are invited to request tutoring, seek positions as tutors, or use Tutoring Center facilities for studying at any time during spring or fall semesters. Reading and Writing [RAW] Center (Building 2100)

The RAW Center, located inside the Tutoring Center, upstairs in the Academic Support Building (Building 2100, Room 2401) offers free one-on-one tutoring in reading and writing assignments for any class in which reading and writing is required. English and ESL instructor-tutors will also assist with transfer application and scholarship statements. The RAW Center also offers online reading and writing support. The Smart Shop Series (Locations vary - Zoom; In-Person)

The Smart Shop Series is a selection of free workshops designed to help you succeed at Las Positas College. These free workshops cover academics, transfer, and career topics, and help attendees refresh their English and STEM skills, explore majors and careers, prepare for transfer, and more. Computer Center (Building 2100)

The Computer Center, located upstairs in the Academic Support Building (Building 2100, Room 803), is an instructional space for Computer Studies students and a quiet open lab where all currently enrolled LPC students are welcome to study.

Computer Center staff provide technical and instructional-related support and assistance to students and faculty to ensure effective and efficient learning in areas that are critically important to students' success.

Expert and knowledgeable staff are available to help in-person, online via Zoom, email, or over the phone during regular business hours.

Computers, printers, copiers, scanners, as well as essential apps and subject-specific software, are available for student use.

Integrated Learning Center [ILC] (Building 2100)

The Integrated Learning Center, located on the ground floor of the Academic Support Building (Building 2100), houses the Math Learning Center and the attached labs for English as Second Language (ESL) courses.

Math Learning Center (Building 2100)

The Math Learning provides support to students in math courses through concurrent support courses aligned with their math courses. The support courses may be taken as credit or as non-credit (tuition-free). These support courses are designed with innovative strategies to offer students math and learning support while taking a math class. The math department provides drop-in tutoring for students enrolled in LPC mathematics classes through enrollment in the noncredit NMAT 202C course. LPC Mathematics Faculty staff the Math Learning Center. All support classes are offered face-to-face and synchronously (live online) at specified times. 

English as a Second Language (Labs in Building 2100)

ESL students enrolled in Reading and Writing courses will complete a weekly one hour lab assignment in the Integrated Learning Center. Students will complete lab assignments with a focus on grammar, vocabulary, reading and writing skills, in groups and/or independently with the support of an ESL instructor. Students can also access other learning support materials located in the lab.
