OSH 50 - Intro Occupational Safety/Hlth

3 units

An introduction to the principles and techniques of occupational safety and health management. Includes historical evolution, professional make-up and responsibilities of the occupational and safety practitioners, and analysis and implementation of a typical safety program. 54 hours lecture. Transfer: CSU.

OSH 60 - Elements of Industrial Hygiene

3 units

Introduction to the major subject areas of Industrial Hygiene. This includes anticipation, recognition, evaluation, and control of workplace hazards; effects of toxic agents on the body; measurement of these agents; general methods for their control; as well as State and Federal regulatory requirements. 54 hours lecture. Transfer: CSU.

OSH 62 - Physical Hazards

3 units

Examination of physical hazards in the work environment and methods of control. Includes review of key hazards and regulatory requirements associated with human factors e.g., work area layout and planning, machine guarding, electrical safety, materials handling, rigging, conveyors, power tools, personal protective equipment, compressed gases, illumination, and working surfaces. Emphasis on methods for observation and inspection of workplace conditions and practices. 54 hours lecture. Transfer: CSU.

OSH 67 - Comp Regulatory Requirements

3 units

An introductory review of State and Federal Occupational Safety and Health Acts, awareness of life safety, fire safety and building codes and standards, Workers' Compensation laws, and other important regulations as they relate to occupational safety and health management. Includes interactive discussion of key regulatory requirements, focusing on employer responsibilities, interpretation of key regulations and techniques to implement an effective, comprehensive occupational safety and health program. 54 hours lecture. Transfer: CSU.
