Professional Development funds currently cover TBD maximum per year per applicant; however, there are other sources of activity funding available on campus, some directly tied into existing grants. In the event that you wish to apply for any of these sources of grant funding, you will need to first obtain the signature of your grant administrator on all conference request forms prior to submitting them to your Dean or Immediate supervisor.

In the event that you are approved for grant/initiative funding, you will not be eligible to apply for reimbursement through the general fund (Professional Development Committee).

  • Faculty are eligible to use BSI funds toward the conference of their choice. Please note that you intend to utilize the "BSI Funds" on the Professional Development Activity Request Form. Any activity requesting financial support from the BSI fund must adhere to the following requirements:

  • The person requesting funds must submit a Conference Leave Request Form to the Basic Skills Committee and be placed on the agenda for the Basic Skills Committee (meets 4th Wednesday of each month). The requestor must clearly explain to the Basic Skills Committee how their proposed activity addresses Basic Skills student needs. The Committee would then collaboratively decide amount of funding to be provided, and the requestor will be notified of the funding amount following the meeting.

  • Following the activity, the person who received funds from BSI would submit a brief report to the Basic Skills Committee or present at a regular Basic Skills meeting. The person is also encouraged to report to groups who would be interested in what was learned at the activity. The Conference Leave Expense Claim Form must be completed and signed by the appropriate people, including the BSI grant administrators, prior to obtaining reimbursement.
